Harley-Davidson makes two types of fork oil for shovelheads. HD Hydra-Glide fork oil is for 1966 to 1969 models. All shovelhead models 1970 and later use HD Type B fork oil. HD Primary Chaincase is used in the primary chaincase. Shovelhead models from 1966 to 1975 use Dot 3 brake fluid. Models 1975 and later use Dot 5 brake fluid.
Preferably in ounces per fork. I haven't got a 1990 manual, I do have a 1989 manual, and it shows it at 10.9 oz (US) left, 10.8 oz (US) right. The 1994 manual shows 12.6 oz (Aspencade) / 12.2 oz (Interstate) left, and 12.7 oz right. Not sure what year this changed.
